Many “true” petrol heads (whoever they are…) fear electromobility. As if criticism on the internal combustion engine is a sacrilege. Of course, burning fossil fuel harms the environment. And of course, there are “cleaner” means of transportation. On the other hand, it´s a fact that petrol-driven machines powered us through the global growth of the 20th century. And climate change – as serious as the situation is these days – has multiple reasons. It cannot be broken down to a single one.
So it´s no surprise that I feel kind of torn between the poles of pros and cons. I love old school motoring (to the bottom of my heart), but I also love our nature and fear we have stressed our budgets too far. Therefore, electric engines do no harm to my world view. They won´t be the final solution for all our problems, nor the “killer” of the internal combustion engine. Instead, they will be one of many contributions to a changing mindset, which – I believe – is overdue.
So why am I writing all this? Because riding or driving, enjoying and caring about electric vehicles like this eRockit, which is a smart pedal-powered “human hybrid” motorcycle, is a matter of course to me. I don´t fear the future, BEVs or change in general. As long as we don´t forget to have some fun on the road…
