Driving the French Alps from North to South is a motorist´s dream, for sure. Because the Route des Grandes Alpes represents one of the most dramatic stretches of tarmac in Europe. Several high passes, six of them beyond 2.000 meters, and infinite combinations of curves make you celebrate each corner. Especially when you sit behind the wheel of a classic. Or a future classic, when speaking of my 1998 BMW Z3 Coupé.

The sporty weirdo was a tremendous drive on this 4.500 km ego-trip. Grippy Michelin PS4 tires, raspy exhaust notes from the in-line-six, manual gears, limited slip diff – the perfect setup for a holiday trip where dynamics ranked higher than relaxation.
