Motor journalists are blessed. We are a special breed, regularly surrounded by exotic machines, rare sports cars or high-end superbikes. But hardly any motorcycle has been more entertaining than my very own Yamaha DT2.

It´s just a two-stroke, drum-braked, dual shock relict from the past. But in its 1970s simplicity, the 250cc bike is near perfect. No matter that the paint is faded, power peaks at 90 kilometers in fifth gear, and comfort has no meaning. The little Deetee slows me down. She always takes the scenic route.

My mind is hijacked once the single kicks into life. She´s always ready. Heading into the woods, letting the knobbies do the work, and the smoke leaving a mark in the cold air of an autumn afternoon…

I doubt you´ll have a better time with something else.
