Motor journalists are blessed. We are a special breed, regularly surrounded by exotic machines, rare sports cars and high-end superbikes. But hardly any motorcycle has been more entertaining than my very own Yamaha DT2.

It´s just a two-stroke, drum-braked, dual shock relict from the past. But in its 1970s simplicity, the 250cc bike is near perfect. No matter that the paint is faded, power peaks at 90 kilometers in fifth gear, and comfort has no meaning. The little Yam slows you down. She always takes the scenic route.

Your mind is hijacked once the single kicked into life. Head into the woods, let the knobbies do the work, and the smoke leave a mark in the cold air of an autumn afternoon. I doubt you´ll have a better time with something else.
