I wonder if the creators of Jaguar´s XK family realized that they were building one of the most outstanding designs of their era? The elegant and surprisingly cheap two-seater, once planned as a small-volume series with alloy bodywork, immediately became a showroom success. The goal of 240 hand-built XK120s did not match the demand of the post-war gentry (at all). Instead, Mr. William Lyons (no “Sir” yet…) had to produce more than 7.300 units – until the XK140 went into production.
Shooting and driving such an outstanding car on a warm, sunny evening made me feel as lucky as Mr. Lyons…
