Actually, Axel and I wanted to take our old Moto Guzzi motorcycles to Italy. Enjoying the beauty of Tuscany, escaping the cold weather in Germany, riding the Italian motorcycles on home turf. But then, everything turned out differently.
In the face of climate change, Tuscany was struggling with heavy floods. People had other things to do than welcome tourists on a pleasure trip. Surprisingly, the weather forecast spoke in favor of Norway. No precipitation, lots of sunshine, moderate temperatures. The decision was made in seconds.
So instead of chauffeuring the two-cylinder bikes South, Axel had chosen his modified Alfa Giulia, and I took my open-top Lotus Elise, heading North. By the end of the first day we already had the best roads under our tires, which lead us through huge fjords, deep forests and barren, snow-covered plateaus. The Scandinavian country gave everything to impress us. After 3.700 kilometers in six days, we know: There is always a good alternative.
